1838 Bourbon and Wine Bar brings a touch of elegance to the heart of downtown Rushville, IN. The bar features a broad selection of spirits, wine, and cigars, which patrons are welcome to indulge in while relaxing in the bar’s walk-in humidor cigar lounge.

WHO WE ARE

Husband and wife duo John and Cathy Bostic created 1838 Bourbon and Wine Bar in 2024 as a way to bring an upscale experience to Rushville, IN.

Our Story

John and Cathy Bostic met in high school when Cathy was a foreign exchange student at Rushville Consolidated High School. The two fell in love, but parted ways when Cathy moved back to Sweden. They went on to live separate lives, marrying other people and having children. Decades later, the two reconnected via Facebook and the rest is history.

Our Building

Located just off of Main Street in downtown Rushville, IN, 1838 Bourbon and Wine Bar sits in what used to be the Melodeon building. At one time, the upstairs was home to a theater that hosted speeches from James Whitcomb Riley and Wendell Willkie. From the original light fixtures to the repurposed windows, preserving the historical nature of the building is a key part of the bar’s atmosphere.

Our Goal

1838 Bourbon and Wine Bar aims to give Rushville an upscale drinking experience that fosters community and welcomes all. We look forward to connecting with fellow connoisseurs and giving the uninitiated a place to explore the world of bourbon, wine, and cigars.

Our Drink Selection

We offer a variety of bourbons, wines, and other spirits that fit any preference. A small selection of beers and non-alcoholic beverages are available as well.

Our Cigar Lounge

We welcome you to unwind in our walk-in humidor cigar lounge! This area is separate from our traditional seating and allows non-smoking patrons to breathe easy while the lounge is in use. Please refrain from smoking cigarettes or vaping in the lounge. We have a selection of cigars available for purchase at the bar.
